The Nest Project began when Debbie Baxter built a human-sized bird’s nest in her backyard and climbed inside, discovering a sensation of returning to the womb—a place of pure holding, before life’s experiences and traumas begin to shape us. This film follows four individuals as they enter the nest and explore how this unexpected experience uniquely and intimately transforms them.
I will never stop being in awe of this beautiful project. I have produced several videos for The Nest Project over the course of 10 years, and the vast array of experiences and stories that participants have brought to The Nest never ceases to amaze me. It is a reminder of how healing can happen in unexpected ways and how something as simple as laying in a nest can bring you personal discovery and help reclaim your story. And yes, I have also laid in the nest :)
